Mountain Road – 100 Word Memoir

My confident, fast-paced driving up the mountain morphed into a terrified stop. The road was there, but I couldn’t see much of it to the right of our car. Just the sky.

“I don’t know this road,“ I said, “let’s get out and walk to see if the car could make it up.”

We walked. My heart pounded at the thought of bears and moose.

Fear paralyzed us, we turned back – we ran at the sound of “Neeeeeeigh”.

I prayed, got back in the car, and drove slowly, hugging the mountain, not looking right.

At the top, we shouted hallelujah.
